A Hobby That Can Be Quite Yummy
My mom liked to say that once you can bake the rest is just icing on the cake. I have always believed that philosophy. I have three children, and always make their birthday cakes. At first, they were disappointed with not getting a store cake. On my daughters fifth birthday, she showed me the Barbie cake at Baskin Robbins she wanted. I smiled and told her I would make her a great Barbie cake.
Cake decorating for children’s cakes is very easy including flowers, hearts, designs, and figurines. I had to think hard to create a Barbie cake, I won’t lie. I used miniature figurines that I got at a craft store. They looked like small Barbie’s. I also got a toy pink car. The care went in the middle of the cake, with the small Barbie figurines in the car. I decorated the rest of the cake with hearts, flowers, and ice cream cones with frosting for the ice cream. My daughter absolutely loved it!
There are thousands of ways to decorate a cake for any occasion. For our wedding anniversary, I made my husband a German chocolate cake with shaved dark chocolate on top. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water! It was delicious. I also used the candy letters on the cake because my husband loves to eat them. He enjoyed the cake for our anniversary because it showed I cared to bake him what he liked.
